Ashcroft is a small town
in central British Columbia, just a few
minutes South of Cache Creek and a short
drive West from Kamloops.

Ashcroft has some
great heritage sites (the pictures
shown on the left and right are downtown on the main strip), but dry barren mountains
and hills make up the bulk of the
scenery.

Directions
From Vancouver:
You can get to Ashcroft
via the Coquihalla through Merritt or
Kamloops, but the simplest, shortest and
cheapest (no Highway toll) route is via
Hwy 1. When traveling East from
Vancouver on Hwy. 1, take Exit 170 at
Hope. Stay on Hwy 1 and follow the
signs towards Cache Creek. You'll
pass through Yale and a couple other
gold rush towns on the way. You won't see
any road signs announcing your approach
to Ashcroft
until you're 14 Km out of town. The trip
takes about 4 hours driving at the
posted speed limits.

Hotels in Ashcroft:

This is the Ashcroft River Inn. The
rates are cheap - $58 including taxes
for a room with 2 double beds. If you're looking for the
Holiday Inn...this isn't it, but then
again I didn't see any other hotels in Ashcroft, so make
the best of it or keep driving to the next town. Air
Conditioning, 19" TV, bar. No pool, restaurant
closes at 10:00am.

Ashcroft Restaurants:
Just a block up the street from the
Ashcroft River Inn is Zee's Pizza & Steakhouse.
Good food and a good selection from Greek dishes, to
BBQ ribs to Pizza and Pasta. My only complaint
is that there is no selection for kids.
