Basic Rules of Backgammon
Backgammon
is played one on one by two players on a board with 24
triangles or "points". These triangles
alternate in color and make up four quadrants of six
triangles each.
The points
are numbered for each player starting in the player's
home board. The outermost point is the home
player's 24 point and the opponent's one
point.
Each player
has 15 checkers. The starting layout consists of2
checkers on each player's 24 point, 5 on each 13 point,
3 on each 8 point, and 5 on each 6 point.
Each player
has their own dice and rolls these dice to move their
checkers.
