January 2005: In the past 6
months The Poker Club has done little to
update it's software and marketing. The
result is that there are currently few players
to compete against.
The Poker Club was one of
the original three online poker clubs launched
back in 1999, shortly after Paradise Poker and
Planet Poker. The software at the time was
mediocre and the site never got its
legs. Last year they updated their game client and
lobby. It is a complete rewrite and a major improvement.
The graphics are
pleasing and the game is smooth and
fast.
The Poker Club lobby has a unique look.
It uses a web based console with slide outs,
similar to a Microsoft Media player or Winamp
'skinned' look. They offer a side chat option
for players using higher screen resolutions,
as well as players notes and stats.
The Poker Club offers a variety of games,
tournaments and Multi-table tournaments
in the Texas Hold'em Poker format.
The Poker Club has not
garnered the attention that they deserve in
the industry with their new software, but with
plans to network with the Binion and others,
they might see significant growth in the
coming year.
