The first step to playing winning poker is knowing what beats what!

1. Royal Flush

An ace high straight flush. The most valuable of all poker hands and always a winning hand.  A Royal Flush consists Ten, Jack, Queen, King and Ace, all of the same suit.  (A, K, Q, J, 10 of the same suit.)  Tiebreaker Rules

2. Straight Flush

Any five card sequence in the same suit - for example: 8, 9, 10, J, Q of hearts.

3. Four of a Kind

Four cards of the same numerical rank (i.e. K, K, K, K).

4. Full House

Three of a Kind combined with a Pair (i.e. A, A, A, 5, 5). A great poker hand when you can get it.

5. Flush

Any five cards of the same suit, regardless of their numerical rank.

6. Straight

Five cards in sequence (i.e. 3,4,5,6,7), regardless of their suits.

7. Three of a Kind

Three cards of the same numerical rank (i.e. 4,4,4).

8. Two Pair

Two separate pairs (i.e. 4, 4, K, K).

9. Pair

Two cards of the same rank - i.e. Q, Q.  If more than one player has a pair, then the highest pair wins.

10. High Card

When no one has at least a pair, highest card wins.  2 is the lowest card and the Ace is the highest.
