The first step to playing
winning poker is knowing what beats what!
1.
Royal
Flush
An ace high straight flush. The most
valuable of all poker hands and always a winning
hand. A Royal Flush
consists Ten, Jack, Queen, King and Ace, all of
the same suit. (A, K, Q, J, 10 of the same suit.)

Straight
Flush
Any five card sequence in the same suit - for
example: 8, 9, 10, J, Q of hearts.

Four of a
Kind
Four
cards of the same numerical rank (i.e. K, K, K, K).
4. Full
House
Three of a Kind combined with a Pair (i.e. A, A,
A, 5, 5). A great poker hand when you can get it.
5. Flush
Any five cards of the same suit,
regardless of their numerical rank.
6.
Straight
Five cards in sequence (i.e. 3,4,5,6,7),
regardless of their suits.
7. Three
of a Kind
Three cards of the same
numerical rank (i.e. 4,4,4).
8. Two
Pair
Two separate pairs (i.e. 4, 4, K, K).
9. Pair
Two cards of the same rank - i.e. Q, Q. If
more than one player has a pair, then the
highest pair wins.
10. High
Card
When no one has at least a pair, highest card
wins. 2 is the lowest card and the
Ace is the highest.
